The Factory

Ferrari operates out of two industrial sites: the main factory in Maranello, and that dedicated to the production of chassis and bodywork in Modena - the Scaglietti works.
The Maranello factory covers 252,000 sq. m - 94,000 sq. m of which are covered - and employs around 2,000 people. Production is strictly limited to under 4,000 cars a year, and the assembly lines are currently dedicated to producing the 360 Modena, 360 Spider, 456M GT, 456M GTA, 550 Maranello and 550 Barchetta Pininfarina.

Engineering

All Ferrari's cars are engineered and developed entirely in-house in Maranello by the Engineering Division led by the Technical Director, Ing. Amedeo Felisa.
Every single vehicle component is designed using highly sophisticated computer modeling, and developed with the aid of the most advanced computer simulation and analysis software.

Development Division

This division undertakes the development of both new vehicles and new components. Skilled technicians assemble prototypes and carry out functional tests on chassis and bodywork sub-assemblies and components. New and modified engines are also subject to exhaustive bench testing, especially with regard to emissions levels for world markets.
Extensive reliability testing is carried out on complete vehicles, both on the road and on the track, and cars are also subject to development testing (handling, ride, brakes) before being signed off for production.

Engine Assembly

Two lines are dedicated to the assembly of the 8- and 12-cylinder engines. Each individual engine is built by a single technician who guarantees the perfection of the assembly, a fact backed up by detailed documentation of the assembly procedure.
All engines are run-in on a test bed and tested (power and torque curves, plus emissions) before being installed in the car.

Gallery Ferrari

Every year over 173,000 people visit the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello. The museum holds exhibitions of some of Ferrari's rarest cars along with displays of historically important memorabilia, and includes a well-stocked shop for collectibles and merchandise.

Ferrari 360 Modena

The 360 Modena is a clean-sheet design which anticipates trends for future Ferrari road cars. These include lower weight combined with greater chassis rigidity seemingly contrasting objectives that have been achieved by employing innovative construction technology. The 360 Modena is the first production Ferrari to be constructed entirely in aluminum. Chassis, body shell and suspension wishbones are all made from this light-weight material, allowing the engineers to provide the best overall performance and handling ever achieved in a mid-engine Ferrari, along with levels of comfort unheard of before.

Ferrari F430

The F430 signals the arrival of a brand new generation of Ferrari 8-cylinder models. This new car takes Ferrari’s extraordinary achievements with aluminum technology, begun with the 360 Modena, to a whole new level, and offers a series of extremely significant innovations directly derived from the Ferrari Formula 1 single-seat.

Two of these innovations are world firsts for production cars: the electronic differential (E-Diff) and the steering wheel-mounted switch (better known to the Formula 1 Scuderia’s drivers as "manettino"), which manages the integrated systems governing vehicle dynamics.

The other main characteristics of the new F430 are its light, compact 4,300 cc 90° V8 engine, which punches out 490 hp to achieve a specific output of 114 hp/litre, also providing the new Ferrari berlinetta with a weight-to-power ratio of 2.8 kg/hp (dry weight); a braking system with carbon-ceramic discs for optimal efficiency under extreme use (optional); a Formula 1-derived gearbox that cuts gear shifting times down to 150 milliseconds allowing the driver to make the very most of this truly high performance car (0-62 mph acceleration in 4 seconds flat, a top speed in excess of 196 mph) and an aerodynamic design that embodies the very latest competition technologies, specifically the flat underbody and large rear diffuser to increase down force.

The car will be officially presented during the Paris Motor show in September 2004.

Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano set a new benchmark of excellence in the world after it was introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. This stunning new all-aluminum two-seater is summed up rather succinctly by its own name and delivers everything that this promises. Fiorano after the circuit Ferrari uses to hone the performance of its track and road cars; GTB as in Gran Turismo Berlinetta after the most famous Ferrari berlinettas ever built; and 599 to reflect the displacement of its V12 engine divided by 10.

The Ferrari 599 GTB was designed with several specific objectives in mind: to surpass the intense driving pleasure of such renowned models as the F40, to guarantee stunning performance courtesy of its highly innovative content and technology transfers from the F1 single-seat, and to deliver superior standards of roominess, comfort, ergonomics and safety. The result is the absolute pinnacle of achievement in terms of thoroughbred Ferrari spottiness and technology

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
